El paisaje suele tener un aspecto seco y de tonos pardos, interrumpido por coloridos lagos de origen glaciar, pero una tormenta a principios de abril de 2026 cubri\u00f3 de blanco extensas franjas del terreno. El instrumento Espectrorradi\u00f3metro de im\u00e1genes de resoluci\u00f3n moderada (MODIS, por su acr\u00f3nimo en ingl\u00e9s) a bordo del sat\u00e9lite Terra de la NASA capt\u00f3 esta imagen del nevado desierto patag\u00f3nico en la ma\u00f1ana del 3 de abril.<\/p>\n<p>El comienzo del oto\u00f1o ha tenido m\u00e1s precipitaciones de lo normal en el sur de la Patagonia, dijo el cient\u00edfico atmosf\u00e9rico Ren\u00e9 Garreaud, de la Universidad de Chile, se\u00f1alando que las estimaciones satelitales mostraron precipitaciones superiores al promedio desde finales de marzo hasta principios de abril. En esta imagen detallada de Landsat, se aprecia una marcada l\u00ednea de nieve a lo largo de la desembocadura del Lago Argentino. Tambi\u00e9n se observa el color del agua. El Lago Argentino y otros lagos cercanos contienen una gran cantidad de sedimentos finos, o harina glacial, pulverizados por los abundantes glaciares del sur de la Patagonia. Estos sedimentos en suspensi\u00f3n hacen que los lagos tengan un aspecto de color azul lechoso o turquesa.<\/p>\n<p>Aunque la nieve se extendi\u00f3 por el desierto tras la tormenta de principios de temporada, este esplendor invernal fue ef\u00edmero.
